Departmental Promotion Committee to Meet on September 12; Panel of 1997–98 Batch Officers Sent to UPSC

In a major development for Madhya Pradesh’s State Police Service, five officers are set to be promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS). A total of 15 officers from the 1997–98 batch are under consideration, with their names already forwarded to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the final round of evaluation.

The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) will convene on September 12, where the final shortlist will be drawn up.

Key Officials to Participate in the DPC

The promotion committee will include:

Anurag Jain, Chief Secretary

Kailash Makwana, Director General of Police

Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Home)

A UPSC member

Their collective review will be decisive in finalizing the five officers for induction into the prestigious IPS cadre.

Promotions of Two Senior Officers Under Question

Despite being the senior-most candidates, the prospects of Sitaram Sasatya and Amrit Meena remain uncertain:

Sitaram Sasatya is facing a departmental inquiry, which could affect his eligibility.

Amrit Meena is entangled in a pending caste certificate case currently before the courts.

Their fate rests on the DPC’s legal and administrative evaluation.

What Comes Next?

Once the DPC finalizes its recommendations, the names of the five selected officers will be forwarded by UPSC to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for formal notification.

This promotion exercise is part of the regular IPS quota induction, designed to fill vacancies and maintain the sanctioned strength of the All India Services.
