A wave of retirements is set to reshape the Indian bureaucracy, with 28 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers scheduled to retire in May 2025. These officers represent various state cadres and batches, reflecting a significant transition within the administrative ranks.

Notable Retirements from Tamil Nadu

Among the retirees are senior IAS officers from Tamil Nadu, including Mr. S Karmegam, Mr. A P Mahabharathi, and Mr. A Sankar.

The list includes:

  • AGMUT cadre: Mr. E Vallavan

  • Assam-Meghalaya: Mr. Israel Watre Ingty

  • Chhattisgarh: Mr. Kumar Lal Chouhan, Mr. Bipin Manjhi

  • Gujarat: Mr. R S Ninama, Mr. C M Trivedi

  • Haryana: Mr. Jai Krishan Abhir

  • Jharkhand: Mrs. Punam Prabha Purti

  • Kerala: Ms. Rani George

CBIC Leadership Changes Ahead

In addition to the IAS officers, three senior officers from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) serving in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) are also slated to retire this year. This includes the current CBIC Chairman, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal (1988 batch). However, the process to appoint his successor and other new board members is yet to begin.

These upcoming retirements mark a critical moment for administrative reshuffling and leadership transitions across several key government departments.
