Centre Approves Extension of Central Deputation Tenure of IFoS Officer Deep Shikha Sharma Till June 2028
The Union Government has accorded approval for the extension of the Central deputation tenure of Ms. Deep Shikha Sharma, a 2011-batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer of the AGMUT cadre, who is currently serving as DCO/DCR in Himachal Pradesh.
According to an official memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI), dated December 10, 2025, the competent authority has cleared the proposal to continue Ms. Sharma’s deputation beyond its earlier end date of December 31, 2025. Under the revised order, her tenure has now been extended up to June 22, 2028, or until further directions are issued, whichever comes earlier.
The extension has been granted under the Central Staffing Scheme, which governs the appointment and continuation of officers from All India Services and Central Services to posts under the Government of India. Such extensions are typically approved to ensure continuity in specialised assignments that require institutional knowledge and administrative stability.
In her present role as DCO/DCR, Ms. Deep Shikha Sharma is involved in key administrative and coordination responsibilities linked to civil registration systems, demographic data management, and related functions within the state, working in close coordination with central authorities and the Office of the Registrar General of India.
Officials familiar with the matter indicated that the decision to extend her deputation reflects the government’s assessment of her performance and the operational requirements of the assignment. The continuation is expected to support the smooth execution of ongoing programmes and data-driven initiatives under the RGI framework.
The extension order will remain in force until June 22, 2028, or until further orders are issued by the competent authority, in line with prevailing rules under the Central Staffing Scheme.
