IAS Officer Nivedita Shukla Entrusted with Additional Responsibility as Secretary in Ministry of Health & Family Welfare

The Central Government has assigned Ms. Nivedita Shukla, IAS (UP, 1991) an additional charge of the post of Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, expanding her current administrative responsibilities at the Centre.

As per the latest administrative orders, Ms. Shukla will discharge the duties attached to the office of Deputy Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Ministry in addition to her existing assignments, ensuring continuity of work and effective handling of key policy and implementation matters within the vital public health sector.

The additional charge arrangement is intended to meet immediate functional requirements of the Ministry without affecting the sanctioned strength of regular posts.

The Health and Family Welfare Ministry oversees critical domains including public health policy, national health missions, disease control programs, medical education, and healthcare infrastructure development. By assigning this supplementary role to Ms. Shukla, the government aims to strengthen administrative coordination and ensure smooth execution of ongoing and upcoming health initiatives.

Such additional charge allocations are a standard administrative practice, allowing experienced officers to temporarily manage multiple portfolios in order to maintain operational efficiency and policy momentum until regular appointments are made or workload requirements are rebalanced.
