The 1982 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, Hem Kumar Pande, Secretary, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs has been appointed as  Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution vice Chirravuri Viswanath, lAS (AP:1981) on his appointment as Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances and Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
