CBIC: Announcement of 5 Major Promotions to Principal Chief Commissioner & 7 to Chief Commissioner

The CBIC has promoted 12 senior IRS officers. Out of the chosen officers 5 have been elevated to Principal Chief Commissioner and 7 to Chief Commissioner.

In a significant leadership reshuffle, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has announced the promotion of 12 senior IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers to key positions, reinforcing its commitment to efficient tax administration and governance.

As part of this major revamp, five officers have been elevated to the rank of Principal Chief Commissioner (PCC) or Principal Director General, and seven others have been promoted to the rank of Chief Commissioner (CC) or Director General in various departments.

Promoted to Principal Chief Commissioner (PCC):

  • Raj Kumar (IRS-C&IT: 1990) – Directorate General of Anti-Profiteering (DGAP)

  • Valte Vungzamuam (IRS-C&IT: 1990) – DG, HRD (Infrastructure & Welfare)

  • Amand Shah (IRS-C&IT: 1991) – DG, HRD (Human Resources Management)

  • Chandra Prakash Goyal (IRS-C&IT: 1991) – DG, GST, Delhi

  • Prachi Saroop (IRS-C&IT: 1991) – Mumbai Customs-III Zone

Promoted to Chief Commissioner (CC):

  • M. Subramanyam (IRS-C&IT: 1991) – NACIN, Palasamudram

  • Anuj Gogia (IRS-C&IT: 1992) – CGST Jaipur Zone

  • Kajal Singh (IRS-C&IT: 1992) – CGST & Central Excise, Bengaluru Zone

  • Pradeep Saxena (IRS-C&IT: 1992) – CGST & Central Excise, Ranchi Zone

  • Naveen Kumar Jain (IRS-C&IT: 1992) – CGST & Central Excise, Panchkula Zone

  • Rajiv Kapoor (IRS-C&IT: 1992) – DG, GST Intelligence (SNU), Chennai

  • Manas Ranjan Mohanty (IRS-C&IT: 1992) – CGST & Central Excise, Bhopal Zone

This restructuring is aimed at strengthening tax enforcement, enhancing GST implementation, and streamlining the overall functioning of the CBIC. The board believes that these strategic appointments will further its mission of improving compliance, combating tax evasion, and delivering better services to taxpayers.
