In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Maharashtra Home Department has transferred 26 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across various departments and regions in the state. The reassignments aim to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen law enforcement, and align officer capabilities with departmental needs.
The transfer order, issued on Friday, includes several key changes—most notably, a structural downgrade in the Mumbai Railway Police leadership and new commissioner-level postings in Mumbai, Pune, and Amravati.
Key Transfers and Appointments:
Mumbai Railway Police Commissioner:
The post has been downgraded from the rank of Special Director General to Deputy Inspector General (DIG). Rakesh Kalasagar has been appointed to the position.
Protection & Security Department:
Anil Parasakar, formerly Additional Commissioner of Police (Central Region, Mumbai), has been transferred as ACP in the Protection & Security Department.
Mumbai Crime Branch:
Shailesh Balkawade has been transferred from Pune City Crime Branch to hold the same position in Mumbai.
State Intelligence Training Institute, Pune:
M. Ramkumar, previously Additional Commissioner (Traffic), has been appointed Director of the institute.
Uttar Pradesh Division:
Shashikumar Meena, earlier serving in the Crime Department, is now Additional Commissioner for the Uttar Pradesh division.
