In a significant reshuffle at the senior-most level of the Uttar Pradesh Police, three 1992-batch IPS officers—Ashutosh Pandey, Anand Swaroop, and Neera Rawat—have been promoted to the rank of Director General (DG). The promotions follow the recent retirements of senior officers P.V. Ramasastry, Sanjay Tarade, and Prashant Kumar, creating key vacancies at the top.

Key Appointments

  • Ashutosh Pandey, currently serving as ADG, Economic Offences Wing, has been elevated to DG rank.

  • Anand Swaroop, who is posted at the Police Headquarters, Lucknow, has also been promoted.

  • Neera Rawat, heading UP 112, the state’s integrated emergency response system, joins the DG cadre as well.

Upcoming Retirements & Expected Promotions

  • Ashish Gupta, DG, Rules and Manual, is set to take voluntary retirement on June 10. He is likely to be succeeded by S.B. Shiradkar, the current ADG, Lucknow Zone, who is expected to be promoted.

  • On June 30, Aditya Mishra, DG, Fire Services, will retire. His departure may pave the way for Kalluri P. Kumar, ADG, Gorakhpur, to move up to DG rank.

Several other DG-level retirements are expected in the coming months, including:

  • B.K. Maurya (DG, Home Guards)

  • Tilotma Verma (DG, Training)
