Odisha Government Announces Major Administrative Reshuffle

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Odisha Government has appointed Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke, a 2021-batch IAS officer, as the new Commissioner of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC).

The appointment was formalized through an official notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department on Friday.

From Balasore to Berhampur: Stepping into Urban Governance Leadership

Prior to this appointment, Rajeshirke served as the Sub-Collector of Balasore while also holding additional responsibilities as the Executive Officer of Balasore Municipality. His experience in handling dual roles reflects his administrative adaptability — a quality the state government now seeks to utilize in a more prominent urban governance position.

Immediate Relieving and Charge Assumption Mandated

As per the notification, Rajeshirke has been directed to immediately relinquish his current responsibilities and assume charge as BeMC Commissioner without delay — a move that underscores both the urgency and importance of the role.

BeMC Commissioner Role Elevated to Deputy Secretary Rank

Additionally, the post of Commissioner, Berhampur Municipal Corporation, has been accorded the status equivalent to that of a Deputy Secretary in the Odisha government hierarchy, further emphasizing the strategic significance of the position in the state’s administrative structure.
