Dr. Sunil Gupta Appointed as DIG in Bureau of Police Research & Development

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed Dr. Sunil Gupta, a 2007-batch IPS officer of the Jammu & Kashmir–AGMUT cadre, as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) / Deputy Director in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D). The appointment, made on a deputation basis, follows official orders issued by the MHA.

Dr. Gupta brings a wealth of experience in policing and administration, having served with distinction across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Known for his professional competence and leadership, his expertise is expected to significantly contribute to BPR&D’s mission of modernizing India’s police forces through research, policy planning, and training initiatives.

As a key institution under the MHA, the BPR&D plays a pivotal role in advancing police reforms, capacity building, and the implementation of best practices nationwide.
