Transfers Include Neha Jain, Shubham Nagargoje, and Aranksha Yadav Following Marriages to Fellow AIS Officers

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the inter-cadre transfers of three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers—Neha Jain, Shubham Bhausaheb Nagargoje, and Aranksha Yadav—based on their marriages to fellow All India Services (AIS) officers. The transfers have been made in accordance with the inter-cadre transfer policy designed to facilitate family unity among AIS officers.

Neha Jain Shifted from West Bengal to AGMUT Cadre

Neha Jain, a 2022-batch IPS officer initially allotted to the West Bengal cadre, has been transferred to the AGMUT cadre following her marriage to Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak, a 2022-batch IAS officer of the same cadre. AGMUT includes Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories such as Delhi.

Ms. Jain, recognized for her disciplined approach and focus on grassroots policing, completed her training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) and is expected to be posted in one of the Union Territories under the AGMUT jurisdiction.

Shubham Bhausaheb Nagargoje Transferred to Jharkhand

Shubham Bhausaheb Nagargoje, a 2021-batch IPS officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been transferred to Jharkhand after his marriage to Shruti, an IPS officer of the 2023 batch currently serving in the Jharkhand cadre.

The transfer complies with AIS rules that allow cadre changes for married couples serving in different states, subject to mutual consent of the involved state governments.

Aranksha Yadav Moved to Maharashtra Cadre

2023-batch IPS officer Aranksha Yadav, previously serving in the Gujarat cadre, has been transferred to Maharashtra following her marriage to Anmol Mittal, an IPS officer of the 2021 batch serving in the Maharashtra cadre.

The move was approved by the DoPT with the concurrence of both the Gujarat and Maharashtra governments.

Policy Framework for Inter-Cadre Transfers on Marital Grounds

According to the inter-cadre transfer guidelines for AIS officers, transfers are permitted on the basis of marriage if the following conditions are met:

  • Both spouses belong to the All India Services (IAS, IPS, or IFoS)

  • A joint request is submitted

  • Mutual consent is granted by both concerned state governments

  • The transfer is deemed administratively viable

This policy aims to balance personal and professional lives of officers while promoting administrative efficiency and national integration across services.
