The Government of Haryana is reportedly taking decisive steps to initiate the compulsory retirement of Ms. Rani Nagar, IAS (2014 batch, Haryana cadre), following her extended absence from official duties.
Despite multiple warnings, Ms. Nagar has failed to respond to the fourth and final notice issued by the Chief Secretary, prompting the state to escalate the matter to the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
The proposal for her forcible retirement has now been formally submitted to the central government, indicating that the state is unlikely to offer any further opportunities for her reinstatement or continuation in service.
Ms. Nagar last held the position of Additional Secretary and Director in the Department of Archives, where she was appointed on March 11, 2020. She remained in office until October 27, 2020, after which she stopped reporting for duty. Her prolonged absence, coupled with previous administrative concerns related to her working style, had already resulted in multiple official notices prior to this development.
This action reflects the government’s tightening stance on service discipline and accountability among public servants.
