In a significant administrative overhaul, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered the transfer of eight IPS officers, including three Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), to optimize policing efficiency across the state. The Home Department issued the orders on Saturday, marking a strategic realignment of leadership in key law enforcement roles.

Satinder Singh (IPS 2010 batch), previously DIG, Border Range, has been posted as DIG, Ludhiana Range.
He replaces Jagdale Nilambari Vijay (IPS 2008 batch), who now takes charge as DIG, Counter-Intelligence.
Patiala & Border Range Get New Leadership
Nanak Singh (IPS 2011 batch), earlier serving as DIG, Patiala Range, has been reassigned as DIG, Border Range.
The DIG, Technical Services, will now additionally oversee Patiala Range, consolidating responsibilities in the evolving security framework.
Promoted Officers Assigned Critical Roles
Gurmeet Singh Chauhan (IPS 2011 batch), awaiting posting post-promotion, has been appointed DIG, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF)—a pivotal role in Punjab’s crackdown on organized crime.
Naveen Saini, another recently promoted officer, takes over as DIG, Crime, bolstering the state’s investigative capabilities.
Officers Returning from Central Deputation Given Strategic Postings
Dhruv Dahiya (IPS 2012 batch), back from central deputation, has been named AIG, Counter Intelligence.
D Sudarvizhi (IPS 2012 batch), also returning from central service, is now AIG, Internal Security, based in SAS Nagar (Mohali).
Strengthening Punjab’s Security Apparatus
The reshuffle underscores the state’s focus on enhancing intelligence operations, combating organized crime, and improving internal security. By deploying experienced officers in critical roles—including the AGTF, Crime Wing, and Counter-Intelligence—the Punjab Police aims to reinforce its operational effectiveness amid evolving security challenges.
These strategic postings are expected to bring fresh leadership and specialized expertise to key departments, aligning with the state’s broader law enforcement priorities.
