IAS Officer Sanjeev Srivastava Under Fire for Alleged Slapping of Student During Exam

A viral video has brought Sanjeev Srivastava, the Bhind District Magistrate and a 2011-batch IAS officer, under intense scrutiny—but for deeply troubling reasons. The footage, widely shared across social media, captures Srivastava repeatedly slapping a college student during an examination at a local college in Madhya Pradesh. Though the incident occurred on April 1, 2025, it only gained public attention after the video surfaced in July.

The Viral Incident: Outrage Over Physical Assault

The video, recorded at Deendayal Dangraulia Mahavidyalaya, shows Srivastava confronting Rohit Rathore, a second-year BSc student. The officer is seen dragging Rathore from his desk and slapping him multiple times, allegedly over suspicions of cheating. Srivastava later claimed the student was in possession of a hidden paper used for copying.

In another clip, the IAS officer takes Rathore into the staff room, where he continues to slap him while demanding, “Where is your paper?” before handing what appears to be evidence to a staff member.

Rathore later told the media, “I had left my question paper on the table when I went to the washroom. When I returned, it was gone. Another student was caught with two papers, but I had nothing on me.” He added, “Since he is an IAS officer, I stayed silent.”
