IRS Reshuffle: Key Moves Involving Vatsalya Saxena, Krishan Kumar Across Kochi, Delhi, Hyderabad, and More

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced a fresh round of transfers and postings affecting seven senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), specifically in the grades of Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CIT) and Principal Director of Income Tax (Pr. DIT). The reshuffle, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, comes into immediate effect.

In addition, six officers have been assigned additional responsibilities to ensure smooth operations across various key zones.

Key Appointments in Pr. CIT and Pr. DIT Ranks

The new postings cover several critical jurisdictions:

Vatsalya Saxena, formerly Pr. CIT (OSD), Mumbai, is appointed as Pr. CIT-1, Kochi.

Krishan Kumar, who served as Pr. ADG (Vigilance HQ-5), Delhi, has been posted as Pr. DIT (Investigation)-2, Delhi.

S. Murali Mohan, earlier Pr. CIT (OSD), Mumbai, has taken charge as Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Hyderabad.

T. Diwakar Prasad, earlier Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Coimbatore, has now been transferred as Pr. CIT-1, Coimbatore.

Ritesh Parmar, who served as Pr. CIT (OSD), Ahmedabad, has been appointed as Pr. ADG, NADT-RC, Ahmedabad.

Sathyamoorthy N, formerly Pr. CIT-1, Coimbatore, will now serve as Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Coimbatore.

Kumar Ajeet, previously Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Burdwan, has been posted as Pr. CIT (AU)-3, Kolkata.

Additional Responsibilities for Six Senior Officers

To ensure continuity in key operations, six officers have been entrusted with dual roles:

Vatsalya Saxena will also hold additional charge as Pr. CIT, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala region).

Jagdish P. Jangid has been given additional charge of Pr. CIT (AU)-1, Kolhapur (Pune region).

Abhijit A. Patankar will also oversee Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Pune.

Kumar Ajeet retains additional charge of Pr. CIT (VU)-1, Burdwan (West Bengal & Sikkim region).

V. Vivekanandan is now also in charge of Pr. CIT (C), Nagpur.

Rakesh Garg replaces Krishan Kumar as Pr. ADG (Vigilance), HQ-5, Delhi.

A Strategic Move to Boost Administrative Efficiency

This reshuffle is part of a broader strategy by the CBDT to realign responsibilities based on performance priorities, regional workloads, and upcoming assessment cycles.

Officials noted that such transfers bring fresh leadership and specialized expertise to crucial areas of tax administration, enforcement, and vigilance. These realignments are expected to help the department maintain operational momentum while adapting to evolving compliance and investigative needs.
