Strategic Dual Role to Drive PSU Reforms and Transport Sector Efficiency
Senior IAS officer N.B.S. Rajput has been appointed as the Principal Secretary, Public Enterprises Department, Government of Odisha. Alongside this key assignment, he will continue in his existing role as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC).
This dual charge positions Rajput at the center of Odisha’s public sector enterprise reforms and transport modernization efforts. His appointment is widely seen as a strategic step toward enhancing the governance, performance, and policy alignment of state-run entities.
From Raj Bhavan to Strategic Administrative Leadership
Until now, Rajput was serving as the Principal Secretary to the Governor of Odisha. His shift to the Public Enterprises Department comes as part of a broader bureaucratic reshuffle aimed at reinforcing leadership in critical departments.
An IAS officer of the 1999 batch (Odisha cadre), Rajput is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from MANIT Bhopal. With over 25 years of experience, he has served in various key roles across both the central and state governments.

Throughout his career, Rajput has held several impactful positions, including:
Joint Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India (2020–2024)
Divisional Commissioner, Sambalpur
Commissioner, Land Records and Settlement
District Collector in multiple districts of Odisha and Madhya Pradesh
He has also led portfolios in Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, Health & Family Welfare, Technical Education, and Revenue Administration—earning a strong reputation for administrative efficiency and reform-centric governance.
Driving PSU Reforms & Transport Infrastructure Integration
In his new role, Rajput will be responsible for framing policy and overseeing the performance of state PSUs. His concurrent leadership of OSRTC allows for better integration of transport planning and enterprise management, which is expected to result in improved service delivery, optimal asset utilization, and upgraded infrastructure.
