Umesh Kumar to lead Recruitment; Arun Chakravarthy to continue heading Police Housing Corporation with DGP status

The Karnataka government has promoted two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers — Umesh Kumar and Arun Chakravarthy J. — to the esteemed rank of Director General of Police (DGP), further strengthening the top leadership of the state’s police force. The promotions were formally announced on Friday.

Umesh Kumar Appointed DGP, Recruitment

Umesh Kumar, a 1995-batch IPS officer, previously serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), has been appointed as DGP, Recruitment.

Recognized for his disciplined leadership and extensive administrative experience, he will now oversee recruitment and personnel management for the Karnataka Police.

Arun Chakravarthy Elevated to DGP, Continues at Police Housing Corporation

Arun Chakravarthy J., who has been serving as ADGP and Chairman & Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation, has also been elevated to the rank of DGP.

Chakravarthy will continue in his current role, now with full DGP status, guiding critical efforts to strengthen police infrastructure across the state.
