ACC Approves Key Postings in Defence &Ports, Shipping & Waterways Ministries

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved two significant appointments under the Central Staffing Scheme, strengthening leadership in the Department of Defence and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.

Reema Jain (IES) Appointed Deputy Secretary, Department of Defence
Shri Reema Jain, Indian Economic Service (IES: 2013), recommended for Central deputation by the Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence. She will hold the position for a tenure of four years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Samarth Verma (IAS) Appointed Director, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways
Shri Samarth Verma, Indian Administrative Service (IAS: 2011 batch, Odisha cadre), has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, New Delhi. According to the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) order, he will serve under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years from the date of assuming charge, or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier. He has been instructed to be relieved of his current duties immediately to take up the new assignment.

These appointments reflect the government’s focus on strengthening administrative leadership in strategic ministries and ensuring seamless governance under the Central Staffing Scheme.
