Veteran Officer with Local and International Policing Experience Returns to Lead State Anti-Corruption Bureau

In a major administrative development, senior IPS officer Charu Sinha (1996 batch) has taken charge as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, promising a renewed focus on transparency, accountability, and corruption-free governance across the state.

Having previously served in multiple roles within the ACB—including Joint Director, Director, and In-Charge Director General—Sinha is widely recognized for strengthening the Bureau’s operational efficiency. On assuming charge, she stated:
“We will intensify the fight against corruption, uphold transparent governance, and ensure the protection of public interest.”

Charu Sinha’s career spans diverse policing and administrative environments, from anti-extremism operations in rural Andhra Pradesh to international peacekeeping in Kosovo, alongside spearheading key anti-corruption initiatives at the state level.

SP, Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh): Advocated for property rights of HIV-affected women and children.

SP, Prakasam District: Engaged with Chenchu tribal communities to counter extremism through community programs.

SP, Mehboobnagar: Facilitated the non-violent surrender of extremist groups, ending insurgency without bloodshed.

Officer on Special Duty, Medak: Oversaw anti-extremist operations and rehabilitation of surrendered cadres.

UN Mission, Kosovo: Served in international peacekeeping between Christian Serbs and Albanian Muslims.

SP, Intelligence Security Wing & SP, East Godavari: Managed critical election operations during the 2009 general elections.

Academic and Leadership Credentials

Sinha holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, History, and Political Science from St. Francis College for Women, Hyderabad, and a Master’s in Political Science from Hyderabad Central University. She is also a Fellow of the Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and the Aspen Global Leadership Network, reflecting her commitment to ethical leadership and governance.
