The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the appointment of Shri Sandeep Ahuja, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax, 2015 batch), as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada.
According to the official order, Ahuja will assume his new role at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in the rank of Deputy Secretary. His tenure will extend for four years from the date he takes charge, or remain co-terminus with the Minister, or until further instructions—whichever comes earlier.
The appointment has been approved with a relaxation of the mandatory cooling-off period. The order further specifies that once his assignment as OSD concludes, for any reason, Ahuja will return to his parent cadre.
