Appointments Committee of the Cabinet Approves Repatriation with Extended Cooling-Off Period
New Delhi, October 13, 2025: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the repatriation of Ms. Tripti Gurha, a 1993-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), from her central deputation post in the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD).
Ms. Gurha, who has been serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry, will return to her parent cadre — the Indian Railways — on personal grounds. The ACC’s decision also includes the imposition of an extended “cooling-off” period, a standard administrative measure that restricts immediate re-deputation to central roles after repatriation.
During her tenure at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ms. Gurha was associated with several key policy initiatives focusing on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and child welfare. Her contributions included advancing inter-ministerial coordination on flagship programs related to nutrition, safety, and women’s entrepreneurship, as well as supporting the implementation of schemes under Mission Shakti and Poshan Abhiyaan.
A senior officer with over three decades of administrative experience, Ms. Gurha has earlier held leadership positions in the Indian Railways, where she contributed to logistics planning, passenger operations, and transport modernization initiatives.
The Ministry is expected to announce an interim arrangement for handling the responsibilities of the Additional Secretary’s office until a new appointment is made.
The ACC’s order reflects the routine reshuffling of senior officials across central and state cadres, aimed at maintaining a balance between central deputation and parent service requirements.
