Cabinet Appointments Committee Approves Additional Charge for Simmi Chaudhary as Financial Adviser, KVIC

In a key administrative move, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) to assign Ms. Simmi Chaudhary, a 1996-batch Indian Economic Service (IES) officer, with the additional charge of Financial Adviser (FA) at the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Mumbai.

According to the official order, Ms. Chaudhary will hold this additional responsibility for a period of six months starting from July 12, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ms. Simmi Chaudhary is presently serving as Economic Adviser in the Ministry of MSME, where she plays a key role in policy formulation, economic assessment, and project evaluation. With this new charge, she will now also oversee financial management, budget supervision, and fiscal advisory functions for the Khadi and Village Industries Commission.

The KVIC, headquartered in Mumbai, is a vital statutory body under the MSME Ministry responsible for promoting khadi, rural industries, and village-based employment generation across India.

Government officials indicate that this appointment aims to strengthen financial governance, resource optimization, and transparency within KVIC’s operations. The move is seen as a strategic step to enhance the efficiency of financial processes and ensure greater accountability in schemes related to rural entrepreneurship and employment generation.

Under Ms. Chaudhary’s guidance, the government expects improved fiscal discipline and robust financial oversight at KVIC, ultimately contributing to the growth of India’s rural economy and MSME ecosystem.
