Trailblazer from Tawang: Tenzin Yangki Becomes Arunachal Pradesh’s First Woman IPS Officer

Breaking new ground in the history of Arunachal Pradesh, Tenzin Yangki has become the first woman from the state to enter the Indian Police Service (IPS). Hailing from the picturesque Tawang district, Yangki completed her training and took part in the ceremonial passing out parade held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad on Friday, October 17.

UPSC Success and Historic Achievement

Yangki earned her place in the IPS by clearing the 2022 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, securing an All India Rank of 545. Her accomplishment marks a landmark moment for both her personal journey and the state’s representation in national services.

State Leadership Applauds Her Milestone

Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended heartfelt congratulations to Yangki, praising her perseverance and commitment. “Her path from the tranquil valleys of Arunachal to the nation’s premier police academy is a testament to her grit and dedication,” he said.

He further remarked, “Tenzin’s success is not just her own—it’s a moment of pride for all of Arunachal Pradesh. She exemplifies the strength of Nari Shakti and will undoubtedly inspire many young women across the state to pursue their dreams and contribute to nation-building.”

Khandu concluded his message by wishing Yangki a meaningful and impactful career in public service.
