In a fresh round of administrative restructuring, the Government of Haryana has announced new role assignments for three senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. The officers — G. Anupama, Pankaj Agarwal, and Dr. Priyanka Soni — have been given additional charges with immediate effect, as part of efforts to streamline governance and strengthen departmental coordination.

Expanded Responsibilities Across Key Departments

G. Anupama, who is presently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Departments of Social Justice and Empowerment; Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes; Antyodaya; and Citizen Resources Information, will now also hold the additional charge of the Department of Women and Child Development. Her expanded role underscores the government’s focus on integrating social welfare initiatives under unified leadership.

Pankaj Agarwal, currently the Principal Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, has been assigned the additional portfolio of Principal Secretary, Mines and Geology Department. This move is expected to bolster inter-departmental synergy, particularly in areas linked to land, natural resources, and rural development.

Dr. Priyanka Soni, serving as Special Secretary in the Vigilance Department (Monitoring & Coordination) and Director of the Department of New and Renewable Energy, has been given the additional charge of Special Secretary, Women and Child Development Department. Her diverse administrative experience is anticipated to strengthen oversight and implementation within the newly assigned portfolio.

Administrative Objective

The redistribution of responsibilities is part of the Haryana government’s broader effort to ensure effective utilization of administrative talent and enhanced policy execution across departments. Officials noted that such reassignments are routine measures aimed at improving coordination and accelerating developmental outcomes at the state level.
