Bihar Enhances Policing Standards: Six Senior IPS Officers to Attend Advanced Leadership Course at National Police Academy
In a major step toward improving the state’s internal security and policing standards, six senior IPS officers from Bihar have been nominated to participate in an Advanced Leadership and Mid-Career Training Programme at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad.
According to a recent notification from the Home Department, the officers will undergo the Phase-III segment of the training between December 1 and December 26, 2025. The programme is designed to build strategic leadership capabilities among mid-level and senior police officials.
Preparing Police Leadership for Modern Challenges
The initiative is a part of Bihar’s broader policy to upgrade the skills and administrative efficiency of its senior officers. The upcoming training will focus on contemporary issues in policing — such as technological integration, community relations, and crisis management — enabling participants to better handle complex law and order situations.
The selected group includes an Inspector General (IG), a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), signifying the inclusion of experienced officers with major operational responsibilities.
Ensuring Continuity in Administration
To prevent any disruption in policing activities during the officers’ training period, the Police Headquarters has been authorized to assign their current responsibilities to other senior officials temporarily. This arrangement ensures that public safety operations and administrative duties continue seamlessly across districts.
Building Innovation, Leadership, and Efficiency
Officials from the Home Department believe that the exposure to specialized leadership modules and global best practices will help these officers develop sharper decision-making skills and a more proactive policing mindset. The training is expected to encourage data-based policing, strategic planning, and citizen-centric governance— essential components of modern law enforcement.
A Platform for Collaboration and Exchange
The SVPNPA, India’s apex institution for police training, regularly hosts officers from all state and central cadres, creating a national forum for experience sharing, policy discussion, and peer learning. Participants gain valuable insights into leadership dynamics, inter-agency coordination, and innovation-driven policing models.
By joining this programme, Bihar’s officers will not only enhance their own professional capabilities but also contribute to the ongoing transformation of policing standards in the state and across the country.
