Focus on eradicating Left Wing Extremism, leveraging Artificial Intelligence in policing, and strengthening inter-state coordination
The 2025 edition of the annual Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Conference will be hosted at the IIM Nava Raipur campus from November 28 to 30, bringing together India’s top police leadership along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The three-day high-level meet will serve as a strategic platform to deliberate on India’s evolving internal security landscape and chart the future of modern policing.
Mission 2026: Eliminating Left Wing Extremism
A central focus of this year’s conference is the complete eradication of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) — a national priority set by the Ministry of Home Affairs, with a target deadline of March 31, 2026. With barely five months remaining, the discussions will center on assessing current progress, identifying operational gaps, and recalibrating strategies for the final phase of anti-Naxal campaigns.
Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah are expected to personally review feedback from DGPs and heads of central forces, ensuring on-ground challenges are directly addressed and operations remain aligned with the national strategy for total LWE elimination.
Raipur: A Symbolic and Strategic Venue
The decision to host the event in Raipur underscores Chhattisgarh’s pivotal role in India’s internal security map. As one of the states most affected by Naxal activities, Chhattisgarh provides a critical backdrop for real-time evaluation of counter-insurgency efforts and inter-agency coordination. The venue selection reflects both the symbolic and strategic importance of consolidating gains achieved in recent years against LWE.
Expanding the Security Dialogue: AI, Surveillance, and Coordination
Beyond the LWE agenda, the conference will address a broad spectrum of internal security and policing challenges, including:
Modern Policing Innovations: Reviewing next-generation law enforcement models and best practices for proactive policing.
Tech-Driven Surveillance: Discussing the integration of advanced surveillance tools and data-driven intelligence systems.
Artificial Intelligence in Security: Exploring the dual role of AI as both a threat and an opportunity for predictive policing, cyber defense, and crime analysis.
Inter-State Collaboration: Strengthening real-time intelligence sharing and coordination between states to build a unified national security framework.
Building a Cohesive National Security Vision
Senior police and intelligence officials from all states and central agencies will take part in the sessions, promoting an integrated approach to India’s internal security. The exchange of ideas, best practices, and operational experiences is expected to strengthen national preparedness and enhance inter-agency synergy.
The Raipur DGP–IGP Conference 2025 thus stands poised to shape the roadmap for India’s security strategy — balancing innovation, coordination, and decisive action to ensure safety and stability across the nation.
