Ashish Nath Appointed as Chief Vigilance Officer of NHAI: ACC Clears the Posting for a 3-Year Tenure

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has sanctioned the appointment of Ashish Nath, an officer of the Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE), 1999 batch, as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) in the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), headquartered in New Delhi. The NHAI functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

According to an official notification released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Nath will hold the position at the Joint Secretary level, receiving the corresponding pay scale. His tenure as CVO has been fixed for an initial period of three years, starting from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders from the government, whichever is earlier.

In his new role, Nath will be responsible for overseeing vigilance and integrity mechanisms within NHAI, ensuring transparency and accountability in the authority’s operations—especially in matters related to highway construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects that involve large-scale public expenditure.

The appointment underscores the government’s continued focus on strengthening internal vigilance systems in key public infrastructure institutions, aligning with its broader agenda of governance reforms and corruption-free administration.
