The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has released an official communication dated 14 November 2025 announcing a significant administrative development involving a senior civil servant at the central level. According to the notification, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given its formal approval for the repatriation of Mr V. Srinivas, IAS officer of the 1989 batch from the Rajasthan cadre.

Mr Srinivas is presently serving as the Secretary of two key central departments—the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Department of Pensions & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW). In these roles, he has been responsible for steering nationwide governance reforms, promoting digital public service delivery systems, and overseeing welfare-related policies for retired government employees.

The ACC’s decision follows an official request made by the Government of Rajasthan, which sought the return of the officer to his parent cadre for state-level administrative responsibilities. In line with established service rules and cadre management norms, the ACC has endorsed this repatriation, thereby enabling Mr Srinivas to resume duties within the Rajasthan state administration.

This approval marks an important shift, as Mr Srinivas has been involved in several flagship central initiatives associated with administrative modernization, grievance redressal mechanisms, pension reforms, and citizen-centric governance. His return to the state cadre is expected to strengthen administrative leadership in Rajasthan while concluding his current engagement at the central government.

The order underscores the Government of India’s coordinated approach in cadre management, ensuring that both states and the Centre receive experienced officers as per evolving administrative needs.
