Punjab Police Undergoes Strategic Leadership Overhaul: Five IPS Officers Reassigned, Akhil Chaudhary Elevated as AIG Administration & ANTF

In a decisive step toward reinforcing administrative efficiency and enhancing district-level policing, the Government of Punjab has executed a comprehensive reshuffle involving five senior IPS officers. This transfer exercise, designed as part of the state’s broader governance-improvement and development-focused agenda, aims to streamline law-enforcement operations and strengthen public-service delivery across multiple districts.

 Governance-Oriented Reassignments for Stronger Policing

The latest reshuffle underscores the Punjab administration’s commitment to responsive, accountable, and development-driven policing. By strategically positioning both seasoned and emerging officers in crucial district roles, the government seeks to accelerate decision-making processes, improve citizen-centric services, and bolster security responsiveness.

This move reflects a deliberate effort to align policing strategies with the state’s evolving governance priorities.

 Key Officers Assigned to New Leadership Roles

According to the official notification, the following officers have been entrusted with new responsibilities:

Mr. Akhil Chaudhary, IPS (RR:2012) → Appointed AIG Administration, ANTF, Punjab at SAS Nagar.

Mr. Suhail Qasim Mir, IPS (RR:2017) → Posted as SSP Amritsar Rural, filling a vacant position.

Mr. Mehtab Singh, IPS (RR:2017) → Assigned as SSP Batala, succeeding Mr. Suhail Qasim Mir.

Mr. Tushar Gupta, IPS (RR:2018) → Appointed SSP SBS Nagar, replacing Mr. Mehtab Singh.

Mr. Abhimanyu Rana, IPS (RR:2018) → Posted as SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib, succeeding Mr. Akhil Chaudhary.

 Strengthening District Policing for Public-Centric Development

The reshuffle is widely regarded as a forward-looking administrative decision, intended to enhance law-and-order management and ensure effective developmental oversight at the district level.
