Punjab Government Announces Key Bureaucratic Transfers: Varun Roojam Assigned Additional Charge in Delhi, Jaspinder Singh Posted as ADC (General) in Moga
Chandigarh, November 18, 2025: The Punjab government has issued fresh transfer and posting orders involving two senior IAS officers, marking another step in its ongoing administrative realignment. The reshuffle is designed to strengthen governance both at the state level and in district administration, ensuring smoother coordination and delivery of public services.
Varun Roojam Assigned Additional Charge as Resident Commissioner, Punjab Bhawan
According to the official notification, Varun Roojam (IAS: 2004, Punjab cadre), who is presently serving as Administrative Secretary, Transport Department, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Resident Commissioner, Punjab Bhawan, New Delhi.
This new responsibility places him at the helm of Punjab’s official representation in the national capital, where he will oversee coordination of inter-governmental engagements, facilitate communication between the state and central ministries, and manage Punjab’s institutional presence at Punjab Bhawan. His appointment underscores the government’s intent to strengthen its interface with New Delhi through an experienced officer.
Jaspinder Singh Transferred to Moga as ADC (General)
In a parallel move, the government has transferred Jaspinder Singh (IAS: 2002, Punjab cadre), who was serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Dina Nagar. He has now been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Moga, with the additional charge of the Municipal Corporation, Moga.
In his new role, Mr. Singh will be responsible for supervising general district administration, coordinating development programs, and ensuring effective municipal governance. His dual charge is expected to enhance oversight of both civic infrastructure and administrative efficiency in Moga district.
Objective of the Reshuffle
The latest transfers are part of the government’s broader effort to streamline administrative functioning and reinforce district-level governance structures. By assigning seasoned officers to critical roles, the state aims to accelerate decision-making, improve coordination, and strengthen delivery of public services.
