Delhi DPC Clears Five Madhya Pradesh SPS Officers for IPS Promotion After Comprehensive Reassessment
A major development has taken place in the police administration of Madhya Pradesh, as a newly constituted Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting in New Delhi has formally recommended the induction of five State Police Service (SPS) officers into the prestigious Indian Police Service (IPS). This decision marks a crucial advancement in the state’s policing structure and underscores a renewed emphasis on transparent, merit-based promotions.
High-Level Delhi Meeting Signals Strong Administrative Oversight
The DPC convened in the national capital on Friday with the participation of senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sheo Shekhar Shukla. Their presence reflected the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the review process adhered strictly to procedural integrity, fairness, and administrative discipline.
Fifteen Officers Reviewed; Five Recommended for IPS Elevation
A total of 15 SPS officers from the 1997–1998 batches came under scrutiny as part of the exhaustive evaluation. During the review, the committee meticulously examined each officer’s service records, performance indicators, confidential reports, and overall suitability for elevation to the IPS cadre.
After this extensive vetting, five officers emerged as the most qualified for promotion:
Vikrant Murao
Rajesh Raghuwanshi
Surendra Kumar Jain
Ashish Khare
Nimisha Pandey
Senior officials noted that the Government of India is expected to issue the formal promotion notification shortly, marking a long-awaited milestone in the officers’ careers.
Clear Progress After Earlier DPC Was Cancelled
This advancement follows months of uncertainty. The previous DPC, held on September 12, was cancelled due to discrepancies related to service records. Acting on the guidance of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Madhya Pradesh Home Department withdrew the earlier proceedings and initiated an entirely fresh review cycle.
The Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters, working closely with the Home Department, reassessed the Annual Confidential Reports of all 15 eligible officers. This ensured that every case presented in New Delhi met the stringent procedural requirements mandated for IPS elevation.
Seniority Versus Pending Inquiries: Two Officers Face Setbacks
While Sitaram Sasatya and Amrit Meena ranked highest in seniority, both officers faced complications due to ongoing departmental inquiries. According to internal sources:
Amrit Meena has been granted provisional IPS status, pending final resolution of issues.
Sitaram Sasatya’s promotion has been deferred and will be reconsidered during the next DPC session anticipated within two months. If his pending matters remain unresolved, his promotion may ultimately be cancelled.
Full List of Officers Considered During the Review
The DPC considered the following officers during its reassessment:
Sitaram Sasatya, Amritlal Meena, Vikrant Murao, Surendra Kumar Jain, Ashish Khare, Rajesh Raghuwanshi, Nimisha Pandey, Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Malay Jain, Amit Saxena, Manisha Pathak Soni, Suman Gurjar, Savyasachi Saraf, Samar Verma, and Satyendra Singh Tomar.
This robust review process highlighted the state’s dedication to ensuring that promotions to the IPS are grounded in integrity, capability, and accountability.
A Constructive Shift in Madhya Pradesh’s Promotion Framework
The restructuring of the DPC and its renewed emphasis on adherence to rules has helped restore confidence in the promotion mechanism within the state’s police cadre. With formal appointment orders expected soon, Madhya Pradesh’s police leadership is poised to benefit from new talent, increased administrative strength, and a stronger foundation for future operational excellence.
