Government Extends Upgraded Additional Secretary Positions for Senior IAS Officers in DoPT and President’s Secretariat
The central government has approved the continuation of upgraded administrative positions for two senior IAS officers, extending their tenures in elevated roles within key institutions.
First, the position of Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), which had earlier been elevated to the rank of Additional Secretary, will remain upgraded until 18 November 2026.
This post is currently occupied by Shri Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, a 1997-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre. The extension ensures continued leadership stability in the DoPT, a department that plays a pivotal role in personnel management, administrative reforms, and governance frameworks across the central government.
Similarly, the upgraded post of Joint Secretary in the President’s Secretariat, also functioning at the level of Additional Secretary, has been extended until 14 September 2026. This role is held by Shri Rakesh Gupta, a 1997-batch IAS officer from the Haryana cadre.
The extension will support ongoing administrative continuity within the President’s Secretariat, which requires experienced leadership to manage high-level constitutional, ceremonial, and administrative responsibilities.
These extensions signify the government’s focus on maintaining experienced officers in strategically important roles to ensure efficient functioning of key departments and constitutional offices.
