Aditi Choudhary Appointed CEO of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority as West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh Announce Major Administrative Reshuffles

In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening urban governance and accelerating infrastructure projects, IAS officer Aditi Choudhary, from the 2014 batch, has officially assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer of the Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA). Her appointment forms part of a broader reorganisation undertaken by the West Bengal government to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across multiple departments.

A New Phase of Leadership for ADDA

Ms. Choudhary, widely regarded for her disciplined administrative style and strong execution capabilities, is expected to lead several key development initiatives in the Asansol–Durgapur region—an area that serves as one of the most important industrial corridors of West Bengal. Her new role places her at the forefront of projects related to urban expansion, infrastructure modernization, public services, and regional planning.

Her appointment also reflects the state government’s renewed emphasis on improving administrative convergence and ensuring timely delivery of public development schemes under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Wider Bureaucratic Changes Across West Bengal

Alongside Choudhary’s elevation, the West Bengal government has announced a set of additional appointments and transfers to strengthen the bureaucratic framework:

Ms. Ekam J. Singh (IAS 2020 batch) has been named Commissioner of Asansol Municipal Corporation, succeeding Aditi Choudhary. Ms. Singh was previously shifted from ADM, Malda and had briefly taken charge as CEO, ADDA on November 20.

Mr. Bharat Singh, formerly Joint Secretary in the Tourism Department, has now been posted as Sub-Divisional Officer of Dinhata in Cooch Behar, marking a key field-level assignment.

Mr. Kaushik Shaha has been appointed Senior Special Secretary in the School Education Department.

Mr. Rajat Nanda takes over as Special Secretary in the Land & Land Reforms, Refugee Relief & Rehabilitation (L&LR, RR&R) Department.

Mr. Jitin Yadav has been transferred as Special Secretary in the Department of Science, Technology & Biotechnology.

These appointments indicate the state government’s continued effort to deploy experienced officers in departments managing large-scale public services, education reforms, and land administration.

Strategic Transfers in Uttar Pradesh

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government, headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has issued its own set of targeted administrative postings to reinforce governance at the district and sub-district levels.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar, who previously served as Additional District Magistrate (Land/Teacher) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, has now been posted as the Chief Development Officer of Chitrakoot—a district with expanding development priorities and major rural welfare projects.

Ms. Anushka Sharma, who had been awaiting assignment, has been appointed Joint Magistrate of Pratapgarh, marking a significant milestone in her administrative tenure and giving her charge of a key district-level leadership role.
