Centre Approves Early Repatriation of IAS Officer Ajay Kumar to Parent Cadre with Extended Cooling-Off Period
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has agreed to the Defence Ministry’s request to send IAS officer Ajay Kumar (Gujarat cadre, 2006 batch) back to his parent state before the completion of his central posting.
Ajay Kumar, who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence, will return to his state cadre from December 31, 2025 (afternoon).
Along with his early repatriation, the government has also decided to apply an extended cooling-off period, which means he will not be immediately eligible for another central deputation for a longer duration than usual.
This decision marks a significant administrative move within the Defence Ministry and the central staffing system.
