Baghpat DM Asmita Lal: The IAS Officer Who Pledged Her Eyes and Is Leading a Statewide Push for Organ Donation

IAS officer Asmita Lal, who currently serves as the District Magistrate of Baghpat, has taken a heartfelt step by deciding to donate her eyes after her death. With this pledge, she has become the first Collector in Uttar Pradesh to openly support and encourage eye donation. Her decision aims to spread awareness and motivate people to participate in organ donation for the greater good of society.

A Gesture Filled With Compassion

While speaking about her decision, DM Asmita Lal said,
“There is no gift greater than giving someone the ability to see the world through my eyes.”

She wishes that her pledge will inspire people across the state to come forward and help those suffering from blindness or severe vision problems.

Who Is IAS Asmita Lal?

Asmita Lal belongs to the 2015 batch of the IAS and is part of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. She is the 31st District Magistrate of Baghpat, and is known for her disciplined work style and strong administrative skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Mumbai

Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management with a specialization in Public Management from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)

During her time as CDO in Ghaziabad, she played a major role in getting new equipment installed to strengthen animal healthcare services—reflecting her dedication to welfare and development work.
