Centre Orders Early Repatriation of Senior ITradeS Officer Ramesh Kumar Verma

The central government has decided to send back Mr Ramesh Kumar Verma, an officer of the Indian Trade Service (ITradeS), 2013 batch, to his parent cadre earlier than originally planned. Mr. Verma has been serving as a Deputy Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

According to officials, this step is known as “premature repatriation”—which means an officer is relieved from his current central posting before the completion of the standard tenure. Such decisions may occur due to administrative requirements, restructuring within a ministry, or when an officer’s expertise is needed back in the parent department.

Mr Verma had been involved in several responsibilities related to industry promotion, trade facilitation, and policy coordination at DPIIT. His early return suggests that the ITradeS cadre may require his services for new assignments, internal reallocation of duties, or upcoming projects in the trade domain.

The order ensures that he will immediately report back to his original cadre, where fresh responsibilities are expected to be assigned. The government has not issued any additional comments regarding the reason for the early movement, which is common in routine administrative reshuffles.

Such repatriations are part of the regular personnel management process in government services and often signal upcoming changes in departmental structures or the launch of new initiatives requiring experienced officers.
