Bihar Police Gets Fresh Boost as 9 Newly Trained IPS Officers Posted Across Districts; Prasanna Kumar Assigned Muzaffarpur
The Bihar Police has been significantly strengthened with the induction of nine newly commissioned Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the 2023 and 2024 batches, who have now been formally posted to various districts across the state. These officers, all belonging to the Bihar cadre, have been appointed as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) and are expected to play a key role in reinforcing law and order at the district level.
Extensive Training Completed Before Field Deployment
Before being assigned their field responsibilities, the officers underwent a comprehensive and demanding training programme. They successfully completed the first phase of training at the National Police Academy (NPA), Hyderabad, where they were trained in core areas such as criminal law, investigation techniques, leadership, internal security, and modern policing practices.
This was followed by 29 weeks of district-oriented practical training at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir, which concluded on 23 November 2025. The field training exposed them to real-time policing challenges, administrative procedures, and operational coordination within Bihar’s law enforcement framework, ensuring they are well-prepared for independent district responsibilities.
District-Wise Posting of Newly Inducted IPS Officers
The Home Department of Bihar has issued a formal notification detailing the initial district postings of these officers. According to the order, the newly appointed ASPs have been assigned as follows:
Sushma Sagar – Patna
Aniket Kumar Dwivedi – Samastipur
Dipti Monali – Gaya
Hemant Singh – East Champaran
Karthikeyan A K – West Champaran
Ketan Ashok Ingole – Darbhanga
Prasanna Kumar – Muzaffarpur
Saim Raza – Bhagalpur
The officers are expected to assume charge in their respective districts shortly, after completing remaining formalities.
Strengthening Grassroots Policing in Bihar
Senior officials said the deployment of these freshly trained IPS officers will significantly enhance district-level policing, crime control, public order management, and administrative efficiency. As ASPs, they will assist district police leadership in supervising police stations, coordinating law enforcement operations, and implementing state and central policing initiatives.
The appointments reflect the state government’s continued emphasis on strengthening leadership at the grassroots level, improving responsiveness of the police force, and ensuring better delivery of public safety services across Bihar’s districts.
