Puneet Meena (IRAS, 2012 Batch) Assigned New Responsibilities in the Central Vigilance Commission

The Government of India has issued an official order confirming that Mr. Puneet Meena, an officer belonging to the Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS), 2012 batch, has been assigned a revised role within the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). The decision marks an important administrative update concerning his ongoing tenure in the premier vigilance oversight body of the country.

Mr. Meena, who has been serving in the Commission in a key capacity, will now take on responsibilities that reflect an expanded scope of work and a more defined administrative role within the organisation. The latest order detailing his assignment underscores the government’s intent to align his official duties with the specialised vigilance and oversight functions he has been performing.

As an IRAS officer, Mr. Meena brings a strong financial, audit, and expenditure-management background, which is critical for the Central Vigilance Commission’s mandate. His expertise is particularly relevant to CVC’s work in strengthening transparency mechanisms, improving integrity safeguards in government departments, and ensuring stricter monitoring of financial procedures across public sector institutions.

This reallocation of responsibilities also emphasizes the CVC’s ongoing efforts to enhance its operational efficiency by placing experienced officers from specialised services in strategically important roles. Mr. Meena’s new assignment is expected to further support the Commission’s supervisory and advisory functions, especially in cases involving financial misconduct, procurement irregularities, and administrative lapses.

The administrative division of the Central Vigilance Commission has been instructed to update internal records, revise service documentation, and make the necessary procedural adjustments to reflect the latest order. The updated designation will also be incorporated into all official communications and workflow systems used within the Commission.

Through this appointment, the Central Government once again highlights the importance of deploying technically skilled officers from services like IRAS to strengthen institutional accountability and reinforce vigilance frameworks. Mr. Puneet Meena’s broadened role is expected to contribute significantly to the Commission’s mission of promoting integrity and preventing corruption across the governmental ecosystem.
