ISS Officer Pinky Sawariya Appointed Deputy Secretary in Central Information Commission; Set to Assume Joint Secretary Role from January 2026
Ms. Pinky Sawariya, a 2012-batch officer of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS), has been formally selected for central deputation and appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Central Information Commission (CIC), New Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme. Her appointment follows a recommendation made by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
According to the official order, Ms. Sawariya will hold the post of Deputy Secretary for a tenure of four years, commencing from the date she assumes charge of the position. She is required to take over the assignment on or before 31 December 2025.
Subsequent to the completion of this tenure, Ms. Sawariya will be elevated to the post of Joint Secretary (Director level) in the Central Information Commission. This higher responsibility will take effect from 1 January 2026 and will continue for a period of five years, or until further instructions are issued by the competent authority, whichever occurs earlier.
The order further directs that Ms. Sawariya be relieved immediately from her current duties to enable her to report for her new assignment in the Central Information Commission without delay.
The communication also draws attention to the strict timelines prescribed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
As per the ACC’s instructions, conveyed through the Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T) Circular No. 3/4/2004-EO(MM-I) dated 17 August 2005, officers appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme must join their new post within three weeks of the issuance of the DoP&T appointment order. Failure to do so may result in the initiation of debarment proceedings from the Central Staffing Scheme.
