The Government of India has accorded formal approval to the upgradation of the post presently held by Ms. Iva Ashish Srivastava, IAS (Uttarakhand: 2010) under the Office of the Registrar General of India (O/o RGI). The position of Deputy Census Officer / Deputy Director of Census Operations (DCO/DCR) at the Deputy Secretary level in Uttarakhand has now been re-designated to the Director level, reflecting enhanced responsibilities and administrative stature.
According to the official order, the Competent Authority has cleared the proposal to elevate the post of DCO/DCR, Uttarakhand, currently occupied by Ms. Srivastava, from Deputy Secretary grade to Director grade. The re-designation will take effect from the date she formally assumes charge of the upgraded post.
The tenure of the re-designated Director-level post will remain valid up to 02 April 2026, which corresponds to the maximum admissible three-year tenure for the DCO/DCR position, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier, as per prevailing central staffing norms.
Ms. Iva Ashish Srivastava, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Uttarakhand cadre, has been serving on central deputation since 03 April 2023. Her continued posting at the Office of the Registrar General of India underscores the Centre’s confidence in her administrative experience and domain expertise, particularly in census operations, data governance, and population-related administrative functions.
The re-designation of the post to the Director level is viewed as an important administrative move, ensuring parity in seniority, responsibility, and decision-making authority for officers handling critical census and civil registration operations at the state level. It also aligns with the broader objective of strengthening leadership capacity within key statistical and governance institutions of the Government of India.
