ACC Clears Premature Repatriation of NIA Chief Sadanand Vasant Date to Maharashtra Cadre
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally given its approval to a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the premature repatriation of a senior Indian Police Service officer.
As per the decision, Mr Sadanand Vasant Date, IPS (Maharashtra Cadre: 1990), who is presently serving as the Director General (DG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), will be sent back to his parent Maharashtra cadre with immediate effect.
The order brings an early end to Shri Date’s central deputation tenure, and he is required to be relieved from his responsibilities at the NIA forthwith to facilitate his return to the state cadre. The move has been approved at the highest executive level and is effective without any notice period.
Mr Sadanand Vasant Date is a highly experienced IPS officer with decades of service in counter-terrorism, internal security, and policing. As DG of the NIA, he headed India’s premier counter-terrorism investigation agency, overseeing several sensitive and high-profile cases of national importance.
The premature repatriation has been processed in accordance with established service rules governing central deputation and cadre management of All India Services officers. Further postings or responsibilities of Shri Date in the Maharashtra cadre are expected to be decided separately by the state government.
