ACC Sanctions One-Year Extension of IFS Officer Dr. Vipin Kumar’s Deputation in Prime Minister’s Office Till January 2027
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally accorded approval for the continuation of the central deputation assignment of Dr. Vipin Kumar, IFS (2013 batch), who is presently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Under the approved decision, Dr. Kumar’s current deputation tenure has been extended for an additional one-year period beyond its existing completion date of January 4, 2026. The renewed assignment will now remain effective until January 4, 2027, subject to standard administrative conditions.
The extension shall remain valid either until the end of the sanctioned term or until further instructions are issued by the Government of India — whichever takes effect earlier.
The decision underscores the government’s continued trust in Dr. Kumar’s professional competence and his role in strengthening high-level administrative coordination, inter-ministerial facilitation, and policy monitoring functions within the Prime Minister’s Office, which serves as the central nerve centre of national governance and strategic oversight.
The continuation of his tenure is expected to contribute to institutional continuity and sustained efficiency in the PMO’s critical policy implementation and reform-monitoring mechanisms.
