IPS Officer Devesh Kumar Mahia Appointed Director in Department of Social Justice & Empowerment Under Central Staffing Scheme
The Government of India has approved the appointment of Mr Devesh Kumar Mahia, IPS (AGMUT Cadre: 2012), as Director in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi, under the prestigious Central Staffing Scheme.
Mr Mahia was formally recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs, following which his selection has been finalized for the Director-level position. His appointment shall remain valid for a fixed tenure of five years, commencing from the date on which he formally assumes charge of the post, or until any further government orders are issued, whichever takes precedence.
In view of his new central assignment, the concerned authorities have been instructed to relieve Mr Mahia from his current responsibilities immediately, enabling him to join the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment in New Delhi without delay.
The Department of Personnel and Training has also reiterated that, as per the standing directions of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) conveyed through DoPT Circular No. 3/4/2004-EO(MM-I) dated 17 August 2005, all officers selected for Central deputation are required to report to their new posting within three weeks from the date of issuance of the appointment order. Failure to adhere to this stipulated joining timeline may result in the initiation of debarment proceedings under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The appointment is expected to strengthen administrative leadership within the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and support the implementation of national social welfare policies.
