IAS Officer Bakki Karthikeyan Elevated to Director-Level Private Secretary to Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy
The Government of India has accorded formal approval for the upgradation of the post presently held by Shri Bakki Karthikeyan, IAS, by redesignating his position as Private Secretary at the Director level to Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines.
The decision has been cleared by the Competent Authority, granting a personal upgradation of the post currently occupied by Shri Karthikeyan. The revised designation will become effective from the date he assumes charge of the upgraded Director-rank Private Secretary position.
Under the approved arrangement, Shri Karthikeyan will continue to function as the Minister’s Private Secretary at the Director level for the remaining period of his admissible central deputation tenure, or until further orders are issued by the Government of India, whichever event occurs earlier.
The Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines are at the forefront of implementing key national reforms concerning energy security, coal sector modernization, mineral resource development, and critical minerals strategy. The elevation of Shri Karthikeyan is expected to further reinforce the Minister’s administrative and policy coordination mechanisms at a crucial time for the sector.
With extensive experience in public administration, inter-ministerial coordination, and governance management, Shri Karthikeyan is anticipated to play a significant role in facilitating policy execution, stakeholder engagement, and strategic decision-making across both ministries.
