In a significant administrative development, the Government of India has approved the re-designation of the post held by IAS officer Neeraj Kumar Singh in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), enhancing the level and stature of his current assignment.

The Competent Authority has formally sanctioned the elevation of the position of Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada, from the Deputy Secretary level to the Director level. This re-designation applies to the post presently occupied by Neeraj Kumar Singh, IAS (Madhya Pradesh cadre, 2012 batch), who will continue to serve the same Minister under the upgraded designation.

The approval has been granted as a measure personal to the officer and takes effect from the date on which he formally assumes charge of the re-designated Director-level post. The tenure under the revised designation will remain valid up to 29 September 2030.

The continuation of this upgraded appointment will be subject to co-terminus conditions with the tenure of the Minister, or until Neeraj Kumar Singh ceases to function as the Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further government orders are issued — whichever of these circumstances occurs earlier.

This move reflects the government’s recognition of the officer’s administrative competence and his continued association with the Minister’s office in handling key portfolios linked to commerce, electronics, and information technology — sectors that are central to India’s digital economy and industrial growth agenda.
