Competent Authority Approves Re-Designation of Vishal Gupta’s Post

IAS Officer Vishal Gupta Re-Designated as Director-Level Private Secretary to Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

The Competent Authority has approved a proposal for the re-designation of the post of Private Secretary to the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

The position, which was earlier held at the Deputy Secretary level, and is presently occupied by Shri Vishal Gupta, IAS (Gujarat cadre, 2012 batch), has now been upgraded to the Director level. This re-designation has been approved as a measure personal to the officer.

Tenure and Conditions of Appointment

The re-designation will take effect from the date Vishal Gupta assumes charge of the upgraded post.

The tenure will continue up to June 5, 2030, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders—whichever event occurs earlier.

 Significance of the Re-Designation

The decision reflects the importance of the role of Private Secretary in supporting the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism.

By elevating the post to Director level, the government has ensured that the responsibilities associated with this position are recognized at a higher administrative rank.
