Cabinet Committee Extends Temporary Upgradation of Senior Post in Ministry of Heavy Industries Till January 2027
In a recent administrative order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the temporary upgradation of the post of Joint Secretary to the level of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
The upgraded position will continue until 7 January 2027 and is presently held by Shri Hanif Qureshi, Indian Police Service (Haryana Cadre, 1996 batch).
This extension reflects the government’s emphasis on strengthening leadership within the Ministry of Heavy Industries, which plays a pivotal role in shaping industrial policy, promoting manufacturing growth, and overseeing strategic initiatives in the heavy engineering and automobile sectors.
By retaining the post at the Additional Secretary level, the government ensures enhanced administrative authority, policy continuity, and institutional efficiency in one of India’s most crucial industrial ministries.
