Cabinet Committee Approves Appointment of Ms. M Anitha, IRS, as Director in Ministry of Defence on Lateral Shift Basis

In a recent administrative order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the recommendation of the Civil Services Board (CSB) for the appointment of Ms. M Anitha, Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), 2007 batch, to a senior position in the Ministry of Defence.

Ms. Anitha, who is currently serving as Director in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), has been appointed as Director in the Department of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme. The appointment has been made on a lateral shift basis, with effect from the date she assumes charge of the post.

Her tenure in this role will continue up to 26 September 2026, which represents the balance period of her five-year deputation tenure at the Director level under the Central Staffing Scheme, or until further orders are issued, whichever event occurs earlier.

This appointment underscores the government’s emphasis on ensuring experienced leadership within the Ministry of Defence, a department that plays a pivotal role in national security, defence policy formulation, and coordination of administrative functions. Ms. Anitha’s background in revenue administration and asset management is expected to bring valuable expertise to her new assignment, particularly in areas requiring financial oversight and strategic resource management.
