Administrative Elevation: Amrendra Kishore Singh, IOFS, Re-designated as Director in Ministry of Heavy Industries

In a significant move within the Union bureaucracy, the Competent Authority has formally sanctioned the re-designation of Shri Amrendra Kishore Singh, IOFS (2012), within the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Formerly serving as a Deputy Secretary, Shri Singh has been elevated to the rank of Director as a measure personal to him.

Details of the Re-designation and Tenure

The promotion follows an official proposal from the Ministry of Heavy Industries to upgrade the position held by the 2012-batch Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) officer. Key aspects of the order include:

Effective Date: The re-designation comes into effect immediately from the date he assumes charge of the newly upgraded post.

Total Tenure: His service under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) remains fixed for a total admissible duration of five years.

Expiry Date: Shri Singh is authorized to hold the post of Director until October 2, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Background and Career Trajectory

Shri Amrendra Kishore Singh transitioned to central deputation on October 3, 2023. His elevation to Director rank signifies a recognition of his administrative contributions within the Ministry, which oversees the growth and development of the capital goods, automotive, and heavy electrical equipment sectors in India.

By re-designating the post “as a measure personal to him,” the government ensures that the officer receives the seniority and benefits associated with the Director grade while continuing his specific duties in the Ministry of Heavy Industries.

This move is consistent with the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) guidelines that allow for the upgradation of posts to accommodate the promotion of meritorious officers on deputation.
