Punjab Bureaucratic Shuffle: Sonali Giri Appointed Administrative Secretary for School Education; 2 IAS and 6 PCS Officers Transferred
In a strategic move to streamline governance and enhance departmental efficiency, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and six Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officers.
The reshuffle, executed on administrative grounds, introduces pivotal leadership changes in the departments of School Education, Civil Aviation, Food & Civil Supplies, and Housing & Urban Development.
Key IAS Reassignments
Sonali Giri (2009 Batch): Previously serving as the Managing Director of the Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (PUNSUP), Ms. Giri has been officially designated as the Administrative Secretary of School Education. In addition to this primary role, she will continue to oversee the departments of Higher Education & Languages and Civil Aviation (as Administrative Secretary-cum-Director).
B. Srinivasan (2011 Batch): Following his recent joining in the State of Punjab, Mr. Srinivasan’s services have been placed at the disposal of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. He will take over as the Managing Director of PUNSUP, succeeding Sonali Giri.
Major PCS Transfers and Field Postings
The administrative realignment also involves several senior and newly inducted PCS officers:
Jashanpreet Kaur Gill (2014 Batch): Formerly the Additional Chief Administrator of the Patiala Development Authority, she has been appointed as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Khanna.
Geetika Singh (2014 Batch): While continuing her primary role as ADC (General), SAS Nagar, she has been relieved of her additional responsibilities as Member Secretary of the SEIAA and Secretary of the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board.
Vishal Watts (2025 Batch): Moving from his role as the Chief Minister’s Field Officer in Kapurthala, Mr. Watts has been elevated to the position of Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Punjab.
Chetan Bunger (2023 Batch): He will now serve exclusively as the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) in Fatehgarh Sahib, moving from his previous dual charge as SDM, Amloh.
Arvind Kumar (2025 Batch): Transferred from Sri Muktsar Sahib, he has been posted as the Chief Minister’s Field Officer in Sangrur.
Rohit Jindal (2025 Batch): His services have been assigned to the Department of Housing & Urban Development, where he will serve as the Land Acquisition Collector for GMADA, SAS Nagar.
